Catalyst Sponsored Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Research Begins

(October 10, 2008) The exhibit business is a marketing business. Effective marketing initiatives are based upon knowledge. As part of our ongoing commitment to increasing the body of good marketing knowledge within the healthcare exhibition segment, some time ago Catalyst Exhibits agreed to sponsor a new HCEA research initiative through The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. The HCEA is, of course, the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association. We are big supporters of the good work they do.
The project is entitled:
"Message in a Bottle – Pharmaceutical Promotion to Physicians – A Message Lost in Skepticism"
The research aims to examine physician attitudes toward medical product promotional activities by comparing the effectiveness of medical convention exhibits and field sales representatives.
The project is being conducted by David McCaffrey III, RPh, PhD, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Administration, and Suvapun Bunniran, MS, Graduate Research Assistant. They are both involved in the Ole Miss Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management Research Program. We understand that the researchers are incorporating "medical device promotions" into the study too.
We are particularly excited about being able to make this research happen... especially as we know it will benefit OUR pharmaceutical and medical clientele.
We received word this morning that the research had officially begun. We can't wait to see the data, which we expect sometime next spring.
Of course, we should note here that although Catalyst has underwritten a portion of the grant, we are not doing this all by ourselves. There are several sponsors (pharmaceutical companies) involved. We are extremely proud to be in this group. We believe that exhibit companies must be involved in researching market data for our clients and others.
If not us, who? If not now, when?
